Opposite Central Ladprao and directly next to Union Mall (Phaholyothin MRT Station). This is a great area of Bangkok for cheap photography and print jobs. As an interior designer Fanfan brings me here for printing design copies and plans. Today we were here for her UK and Schengen VISA photos. We called in at Color Image 1999 Studio a handy place for passport photos in Bangkok.
Suited Up
I didn’t plan on photos myself. Finding the price for passport and VISA photos included beauty touches and choice suit – how could I resist. I was in the chair. Two photos taken. One with my mouth slightly open the other with drunk looking eyes. No problem. Take the eyes from one and paste onto the next. Clipped my hair, airbrushing and swapped my bright ginger T-shirt for a slick black suit. The men’s suit options were a bit bland. I preferred the woman’s selection but no luck. Men had to stick with men.
Final Results
One bag full of handsomeness. Twelve picture-perfect photos for 150 Baht ($5). Crazy cheap. My VISA runs are sorted for the next year.
Waiting Period
These shops have a waiting period for print. Today it was 1 Hour. For other (larger) jobs I’ve waited up to 2 hours. Luckily the Union Mall next door has a great food court. I ate some delicious stewed pork on rice from these Jedward-looking food vendors.
We have been here several times. There are a lot of photo studios in this area to choose from, but we went to the same one as this post to have old photographs converted to digital.
