No matter how much we love Seminyak, Ubud and the beaches in Uluwatu, now is the time to head over to Canggu. Located on Bali’s pristine Southern Coast, just up north from Seminyak, Canggu is attracting more and more tourists and businesses. There are plenty of Bali villas in Canggu too. Not convinced yet? Here are 5 reasons why you don’t want to miss Canggu:
1) A fabulous mix of surfing, shopping, yoga and nightlife
You could say, in some ways, Canggu combines what we love about Seminyak with what we love about Ubud. Seminyak has always been the trendiest beach town in Bali where people come to dine at world-class restaurants, sip sunset cocktails at famous beach clubs, go shopping at unique boutiques and homeware shops and sniff up some cosmopolitan vibes on a tropical island. Ubud is the spiritual town where soul searchers, yogis and culture seekers come together to dive into the Balinese culture and uplift their being. Canggu is neither but it does combine the best of these 2 destinations: beach, nature and yoga. Canggu used to be a secret spot for surfers but it grew to become one of the most popular tourist destinations on the island. Cafes, restaurants, spas, yoga studio, weekend markets, shops, beach clubs – it’s all there and yet, the rice paddies and tranquillity are also still part of Canggu as it is quite a stretched out area. Want to be in the heart of the action? Book a villa near Jalan Pantai Berawa or Batu Bolong Street and Echo Beach. Prefer a location that is quieter and away from crowds and traffic, look into Pererenan or even Umalas which is also close to Seminyak.
2. A great cafe culture
Canggu has got an amazing cafe and coffee culture – definitely leading in Bali! From organic and hipster to super Instagrammable with breathtaking rice paddy views or cool wall art. Cafes with playgrounds, cafes with swimming pools in the garden, bakeries, single-origin coffee fresh from the Kintamani highlands in Bali, you’ll find it all in Canggu! No wonder digital nomads flock to and stick around in Canggu area. Canggu is all about good vibes, healthy food and great coffee. Some of our favourites? Milk & Madu (superb for families with kids as there is a playground onsite), Nude, Macha Cafe, The Loft, Cafe Organic, Shady Shack, really, the list of must-visit places goes on and on. Just go stroll around in Berawa and Batu Bolong, find your own favourites and share the news with us fellow Canggu lovers.
3. The coolest venues for parties and live music
If nightlife is something you are looking for on your upcoming Bali trip, you definitely come to the right place in Canggu. From fabulous beach parties to raving parties and amazing live bands, Canggu knows how to throw a party. Old Mans is the most famous place to go for a night out with the girls or your mates. Located just steps away from Batu Bolong Beach, Old Mans does pretty much everything. Acoustic live music, underground bands, DJs, disco, beer pong. Just check their event calendar to see what’s on when. Gimme Shelter and Pretty Poison are great venues if you like to see original live bands and get into the early 90ties vibe.
4. Not just surf dudes and hipsters but also families
Canggu also happens to be the best next best family destination. Horse riding, surfing, bouncing, water parks, family cafes, bowling, outdoor playgrounds, you can be sure of a great deal of family fun! Finn’s Recreation Club offers everything for a whole week of entertainment that that is not all. There are fabulous beach clubs with beachfront swimming pools including La Brisa, The Lawn and Finn’s Beach Club. There is a shopping arcade with a large outdoor playground and a night market (Tamora Gallery), there is Bali Equestrian Centre if the kids want to try horseback riding and there are skateboard ramps, too. Must-check-out family cafes area Made’s Warung, La Casita, Milk & Madu and latest hot spot Parklife.
5. Gorgeous private pool villa for all travelling groups
The beauty of Canggu is the diversity of this popular beach town. Canggu is quite a stretched out area and there are busy and quieter areas. Whether you want to stay in a Canggu villa on the beach, close to the action or somewhere peaceful and quiet surrounded by rice paddy fields, everything is possible! There is something for all travelling groups and all holiday budgets and what could beat having your own private villa with a swimming pool, garden and living space? It’s priceless!
